Why do this? The “Rationalist” community suggests making/tracking predictions (including a probability estimate) as a technique for understanding the world better. Example: Scott Alexander (2020 Predictions Calibration). Scott Adams also suggests it. He often discusses different “frames” for viewing the world. His argument is that certain frames predict better. I have met my 10,000 steps per day target for 400 days in a row! Background: When the COVID-19 “lockdowns” started in March/2020, I set a goal to do 10,000 steps per day. I did it for 400 days. Rain or shine, hot or cold, snow or no. Yes, it is a somewhat OCD.
